Airbus Helicopters and the French Armament General Directorate (DGA) collaborated to test the VSR700 in an operational configuration from a ship at sea for the first time. (Photo: Airbus) Recently, the VSR 700, Airbus’ unmanned aerial system (UAS), completed more testing at sea in the west of France as a part of Airbus’ collaboration with the French Armament General Directorate (DGA). Performing several autonomous take-offs and landings, the tests performed will help ensure the system is ready for certification and integration to navy fleets across the world. Despite an overall decline in EBIT, Airbus continues toward its goals for increasing production rates for a variety of its commercial aircraft. Within the commercial sector, Embraer earned $198.8 million in revenue, seeing an increase of 17.5% compared to the previous year. Two of the world’s largest aircraft manufacturers, Airbus and Embraer, have announced their Q1 2023 results. Looking at a variety of metrics, the companies report improvements in some areas while indicating certain standards have fallen behind Q1 2022’s performance. In a new partnership, Airbus Helicopters will explore the use of eVTOL aircraft for emergency medical services with the Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation. (Photo: Airbus) Airbus Helicopters and the Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation have formed a new partnership to explore the use of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for air medical services. The news was shared in an announcement during the HAI Heli-Expo event this week in Atlanta, Georgia. The partners will determine operational requirements for conducting air medical missions in Norway.
